PDF Encrypt / Decrypt
Set an open password and restrict printing, copying and editing on a PDF, or remove an existing password to unlock it. Encryption is applied locally with pdf-lib — your file never leaves the browser.
Choose an action: Encrypt adds an owner password (and optionally a user/open password) with print/copy restrictions; Decrypt unlocks a password-protected PDF using its password. All done locally in your browser.

How to use the PDF Encrypt / Decrypt tool
Password-protect a PDF (AES encryption) or remove an existing password. All processing is local with pdf-lib — the file never leaves your browser.
Encrypt a PDF
- Select Encrypt PDF, set an owner password (required) and optionally a user / open password.
- Tick which actions you want to allow (printing, copying, editing). Untick to block them for the user password.
- Click Run — encrypted.pdf is downloaded. It opens only with the password(s) you set.
Decrypt / remove a password
- Select Decrypt PDF, upload the locked file and enter its owner or user password.
- Click Run — unlocked.pdf is downloaded without a password.
Keep the owner password safe — it cannot be recovered. Permissions only apply to the user password in most PDF readers.
